8 Weeks - Introduction Course - £175

Each session lasts 2 hours

On this course you will be integrated with other students at various levels. For the first 4 weeks you will be taught the basic hand building techniques, such as coil, slab and pinch, and you will also be given a demonstration on the potters wheel. If you already have previous experience with clay, this course is still required before applying to move onto the workshop courses. For the remaining 4 weeks, you will be doing workshop sessions, where you put into practice what you have learned and work with limited supervision. This is your time to play with clay, and really get creative. During the course, you will need to take notes, and some videos will be suggested for you to watch

This course includes a reasonable amount of clay, use of tools and equipment, firing standard sized work and tuition for 4 weeks. Glaze is an additional extra cost. As an example, an average sized mug would cost £3 to glaze. You will be required to wear a mask, and bring with you something to take notes with, your own tea towel for cleaning up, and to wear messy clothes. No drinks will be supplied. The sessions are 2 hours including 10 minutes to clean up.

*please note, the kiln is only fired when it is full, approximately every 4 weeks, so you should get some pots returned during an 8 week course but it largely depends on the thickness and dryness of your pots. This art cannot be rushed.

Workshops - 4 Weeks - £80

Each session lasts 2 hours

After attending the 8 week introduction course, you may apply to continue on further and join Rachael in her studio to work along side her. These workshop sessions will have limited supervision, and students will be required to work independently, putting into practice the things they have learned. It is a great opportunity to become more self sufficient in this craft, and learn from mistakes and learn from the other students too. Rachael will be on hand if you get stuck or need to ask for some advice, but these sessions are largely self motivated.
