Rachael Ped Ceramics

Rachael Ped is a Suffolk based ceramic artist who specialises in large ceramic sculptures, which are often playful in nature and very vibrant in colour. Primarily working in stoneware, her distinctive designs and bold markings are very recognisable, selling to collectors spanning the globe.

Inspired by her eclectic obsession of flowers, pirates, Africa, mermaids, dogs and travel, Rachael has a fun approach to ceramics, favouring a stylised approach to her designs. Each piece is lovingly hand made, and tells a story. Having been influenced by different cultures when she lived abroad, Rachael introduces aspects of those cultures in her colour palette and decoration.

She has a real love of the way flowers are drawn by children, that fun, bouncy, simple design that each kid draws naturally. Having survived a childhood trauma, and now well into her 30's, she encourages her inner child to explore, discover and 'play' with clay, in a fun way.

Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside, her bright and airy studio is close to the Stour River in Sudbury, where she explores the local nature walks with her two dogs, and takes much inspiration from the environment surrounding her.

Rachael is a qualified ceramicist, having gained a City and Guilds (Distinction) Level 2 & 3,  and she is also a member of the Anglian Potter's Association.
